2nd Grade Teacher
My name is Hudson Mortimer. I am happily married and a proud father of four wonderful children, obviously the reasons behind my beautiful smile. I was employed by school-professionals for about three years. I relocated from New York to Florida because my wife did not want to miss the opportunity to complete an accelerated nursing degree program. I started with Franklin Academy three years ago as a substitute, technology teacher. I taught 2nd, ESE and 4th grade. I have great passion for teaching and helping children succeed. Teaching is the most rewarding profession there is because I get to change lives every chance I get.
I have a Bachelor of science degree in adaptive physical education from Brooklyn College, New York. I also completed a dual master degree program in general and Special education at Touro college. As a life-long learner who always seeks progress I have acquired a second master degree in curriculum and instruction in technology from Grand Canyon University. I've completed some doctorate courses in educational leadership with an emphasis on special education. I plan to finish my doctorate degree when my life gets less complicated. "The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. the last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant." Max De Pree
Time is the most precious commodity because it waits for no one. I have tried not to put off things that can be done today for tomorrow because tomorrow is not promised to anyone. I believe that words are powerful and should not be spoken without a purpose. Knowledge is power and change is inevitable. Stagnation stunts progress, learning is lifelong. I believe in self-respect, positive self-image, professional boundaries and maintaining a positive attitude at all times.
When time permits, I enjoy spending quality moments with the family. I like to play basketball, soccer, handball, tennis and chess. I have been playing chess for about 12 years and hope to become a grand-master one day. I am on board with Franklin Academy I B program because it focuses on the whole child. We share the planet and learning how to live in harmony is critical for its survival. I look forward to a productive new school year and I hope you do to.
